That the Parliament congratulates the Traditional Music and Song Association and Fèis Rois on joining forces to create Trad Trails 2012, launched at Celtic Connections; notes that this initiative is part of the Year of Creative Scotland and will enable visitors and local people to experience Scottish traditional music in a variety of venues, with over 500 ceilidhs, concerts and music sessions planned across the country from late March to November, and encourages everyone to participate however they can by suggesting venues, organising or attending events, taking part in the sessions and the Ceilidh Trail, and spreading the word to make sure that the best of Scotland’s traditional music is shared as far and wide as possible.
That the Parliament commends Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd in East Kilbride on achieving a waste to landfill figure of zero during 2011, which it considers a remarkable achievement given that the East Kilbride site sent 342 tonnes of waste to landfill in 2002; congratulates management and all staff on their focus and work to achieve their goal; recognises that this work continues with the company continuing to challenge the amount of packaging that it produces; notes that there are commercial benefits to be had in waste reduction, with rebates available on segregated waste, and would welcome similar initiatives across Scotland.

That the Parliament commends the former chairman of the Scottish Dementia Working Group, Edward McLaughlin from East Kilbride, who was recently appointed an MBE for services to people with dementia in Scotland; considers that, since his own diagnosis 10 years ago, Edward McLaughlin has worked tirelessly raising awareness of dementia across the world, meeting and learning from health and social care professionals, other people with the condition and researchers; recognises the contribution that he has made to Scottish Government workstreams and groups, which led to the National Dementia Strategy and associated initiatives, and further acknowledges the work of volunteers across Scotland who support and care for those living with dementia.
