CLYDESDALE BANK YEAR OF HOMECOMING BANKNOTES
Linda Fabiani, SNP MSP for Central Scotland, has commented on the new Clydesdale Bank banknote designs, introduced to mark the Year of Homecoming celebrations and with features to aid visually impaired people:
“Our distinctive banknotes are one of the things appreciated by visitors to our country as something uniquely Scottish, as well as being a bit of a source of pride for people who live here.
“Each of the individuals portrayed on these new notes, from Alexander Fleming on the £5 to Charles Rennie Mackintosh on the £100, represent part of Scotland’s contribution to the world. I’m particularly pleased that a great Scotswoman, the suffragist and surgeon Elsie Inglis, is represented on the £50.
“The World Heritage sites depicted on the reverse show the breathtaking natural and man-made beauty and extraordinary breadth of history to be found in Scotland.
“The additional features to help people with visual impairments use the notes with confidence are very welcome.
“These are a fitting set of designs to mark our nation’s Year of Homecoming.”
