‘SUPPORT THE NHS DON’T JUST CRITICISE, ANDY’, SAYS FABIANI

Responding to claims made by Andy Kerr MSP, Strathaven based MSP Linda Fabiani has expressed her disgust with the former Health Minister for yet again attacking the NHS in Lanarkshire.
Ms Fabiani commented:
“In last weeks EK News Andy Kerr again attacked NHS Lanarkshire over the provision of services and the retention of accident and emergency services in particular. This is no surprise given that it was Andy Kerr himself as Labour’s Health Minister that tried to close A and E Departments and remove other services from local areas in the first place!
“As Health Minister Andy Kerr presided over a decision that threatened closure of the accident and emergency department at Hairmyres Hospital and it is only due to the campaigning of the local community and the common sense of the SNP Government that hospital services were saved. His pronouncements of wrecked community health plans are typical of the scare mongering he has indulged in since his party lost the election. People must be fed-up listening to an ex Health Minister who wanted to close hospital departments, and now constantly criticises the excellent services given by those who work in our health service.
“Given Andy Kerr’s record as Health Minister, it is difficult to take his outcry seriously. Contrary to his statements, NHS Lanarkshire has confirmed that East Kilbride is not losing out on medical provision.
“It is time Andy Kerr got over the loss of his job and stopped criticising our local NHS”.“
