Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Month
Local Central Scotland List MSP Linda Fabiani has highlighted the importance of Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place in June.
Commenting on the health initiative, Ms Fabiani said:
“Everyman was set up by The Institute of Cancer Research to raise awareness of and funds for prostate and testicular cancers. Everyman was devised by the Institute of Cancer Research to target male cancers because men’s awareness is very low, the factors that cause male cancers are not fully understood and male cancers seem to be on the increase.
“It is important that we speak about prostate cancer as it kills one man every hour in the UK and has now overtaken lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer to affect young men between the ages of 15 and 45.
“We have to break down barriers about the level of understanding about testicular and prostate cancer. For those wishing to find out more, they can do so by accessing the following website: http://www.icr.ac.uk/everyman.”
